The final round of Royal Commission into Family Violence hearings will begin on Monday, 12 October 2015, and run for five days, finishing on Friday 16 October 2015.
Over those five days the Royal Commission will explore opportunities to refine the design, governance and integration of the family violence system, including:
- engaging the community
- developing the workforce
- evaluation, reporting and review
- what the family violence system should look like
- how the family violence system should be funded.
A list of witnesses will be posted to the Commission’s website (
www.rcfv.com.au) two business days in advance of each hearing day.
Unless otherwise directed, hearings will be open to the public. Anyone is welcome to attend to watch and listen to the hearings taking place at level 11, 222 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
As footage of the hearings and hearing room will be streamed live through the Commission’s website, those wishing to attend should consider their personal circumstances and safety before deciding to come along.
Public hearings are just one of the ways in which the Commission is gathering information to obtain a better understanding about the existing system and how it operates in practice.
Individuals and organisations have also contributed to the work of the Royal Commission through written submissions, community consultations, site visits and requests for data and documentation.
The Royal Commission into Family Violence is due to deliver its report and recommendations to the Governor of Victoria by Monday, 29 February 2016.
